1.5 A adjustable LDO — dropout and PSRR profile
The LT1963AET#PBF is a 1.5 A positive adjustable LDO regulator in a TO-220-5 through-hole package. Power supply rejection is 63 dB at 120 Hz, which is the post-rectifier ripple frequency for a full-wave bridge on a 60 Hz line. This level of rejection attenuates 1 V pk-pk ripple to under 0.7 mV at the output — relevant when the LDO follows a bulk capacitor rather than a switching preregulator.
Industrial temperature range and protection set
The TO-220-5 package with its exposed tab can dissipate several watts when properly heatsunk — the limiting factor is the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance, not the silicon. Built-in protection includes over-current limiting, thermal shutdown, and reverse polarity protection on the input. The reverse polarity feature blocks negative input voltages from reaching the load — a useful safeguard in bench supplies or battery-powered equipment where input polarity can be miswired.
ROHS3 compliant per the manufacturer's declaration, covering the EU RoHS exemption list through 2024. The surface-mount sibling LT1963AES8#PBF shares the same 1.5 A output, dropout, PSRR, and protection set in an SOIC-8 package. The TO-220-5 through-hole version is the better choice when board-level heatsinking is needed or when the assembly line prefers through-hole for manual rework.
