Rectifier ratings and the low-voltage DC rail
The Vishay VS-2KBB10R is a single-phase bridge rectifier that converts AC to pulsating DC in a compact through-hole 4-SIP package. Its 100 V peak reverse voltage and 1.9 A average rectified current suit it for low-voltage bulk supplies—think 12 V or 24 V DC rails from a transformer secondary, where the peak inverse voltage stays well under the 100 V ceiling and the load current fits the 1.9 A average.
What the 1.9 A average rating means for your BOM
The 1.9 A average is the DC output current the bridge can sustain continuously at rated voltage and temperature. For a capacitive-input filter—common in unregulated supplies—the RMS current through the diodes will be higher than the DC average; the 1.9 A figure already accounts for that conduction angle, but the junction temperature rise under the actual load must stay within the -40°C to +150°C (TJ) operating range. A 1 A DC load with a 100 µF filter cap will run cooler than a 1.5 A load with a 4700 µF cap that pulls narrow high-current pulses.
The Bulk packaging means it ships loose in a bag or tube, not taped and reeled; fine for hand-assembly or low-volume production runs.
