10MBd with 5000Vrms — where this optocoupler earns its keep
The VOWH260A-X007T is a single-channel 10MBd optocoupler with an open-drain output, designed to bridge logic-level signals across a 5000Vrms galvanic isolation barrier. The 15kV/µs common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) is the spec that keeps the output from glitching when a motor drive or inverter switches — without that margin, the isolated side sees a false edge. Operating temperature from -40°C to 110°C covers industrial cabinets, outdoor telecom, and engine-bay-adjacent environments.
Propagation delay and rise/fall — timing budget for the bus
That 100 ns one-way latency adds up in a closed-loop control loop — budget it into your SPI clock period or your fault-response deadline. The asymmetric rise/fall (slower rise because the open-drain output relies on an external pull-up) means the falling edge is the one to trigger on if you need deterministic timing. For a 10 MBd NRZ signal, the 100 ns prop delay is about one bit period at that rate, so the link is marginal for back-to-back transactions without pipelining.
Package and rework — 8-SMD Gull Wing
The 8-SMD Gull Wing package is a surface-mount part with visible leads — no hidden solder joints, no X-ray needed. The thermal mass is low, so hot-air removal is straightforward; just preheat the board to 100°C to avoid lifting the pad on the inner layers. The cut-tape (CT) option is handy for prototypes and small reels.
