Isolation and signal transfer — what the ratings mean
Rated for 3750Vrms isolation, this optocoupler provides galvanic separation between input and output circuits — enough for basic medical equipment (per IEC 60601-1 creepage requirements) or industrial sensor interfaces where ground loops must be broken. The current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified at 100% minimum and 200% maximum at a forward current of 5mA. Switching speeds are modest: 3µs typical rise and fall times, with turn-on at 6µs and turn-off at 4µs. This part is suited for DC signal isolation or low-frequency communication (below about 50 kHz), not for high-speed data links.
Temperature range and environment
The output transistor can handle up to 80V and 50mA continuous, with a saturation voltage of 400mV max — the drop across the output when fully on.
