Package and mounting
The current transfer ratio spans 160% to 320% at a forward current of 5mA. That spread covers standard 5V and 3.3V logic thresholds comfortably — you get enough collector current to pull a CMOS input high or low without marginal drive. If your design needs tighter CTR binning, the -4T suffix already selects the higher band; the non-suffixed VOM617A typically has a wider or different range.
3750Vrms isolation — basic safety barrier
Rated for 3750Vrms isolation between input and output, this part suits galvanic isolation in industrial controls, PLC I/O modules, and motor-drive feedback paths. The 4-SOP gull-wing package keeps creepage distances short for a compact board layout, but the isolation voltage still meets the reinforced insulation requirement for many 240VAC applications.
80V output and 50mA drive — relay and solenoid loads
The transistor output handles up to 80V collector-emitter and 50mA continuous per channel. That is enough to switch a small relay, a DC solenoid, or a logic-level power MOSFET gate directly. The 400mV Vce saturation at rated current keeps dissipation low in the on-state.
Temperature range: -55°C to 110°C
Rated from -55°C to 110°C operating ambient, this optocoupler works in outdoor telecom cabinets, engine-bay electronics, and cold-chain monitoring gear. The wide range also gives margin for self-heating when driving the output at 50mA in a warm enclosure.
