5300 Vrms isolation with 600 V off-state triac
The VO3052-X016 is a Vishay single-channel optoisolator with a triac output rated for 5300 Vrms isolation and 600 V off-state voltage. This combination suits it for switching AC loads up to 600 V peak where galvanic isolation between the low-voltage control side and the mains line is mandatory — think solid-state relay, motor starter, or lighting ballast interfaces. The triac output delivers 100 mA RMS continuous on-state current. The LED trigger current is 10 mA max, with a typical forward voltage of 1.2 V. No zero-crossing circuit inside — the triac fires as soon as the LED current exceeds the threshold, which means turn-on can happen at any point in the AC cycle.
1.5 kV/µs dV/dt — immunity against false turn-on
A minimum static dV/dt of 1.5 kV/µs means the output triac will not falsely trigger on fast-rising mains transients below that rate. This is the critical parameter for noisy environments like industrial motor drives or switching power supplies where commutation edges couple into the triac. Below 1.5 kV/µs the part may self-fire and latch on until the next zero crossing.
Active production, ROHS3, through-hole 6-DIP
It is ROHS3 compliant. The package is a 6-DIP, 0.400-inch (10.16 mm) body, through-hole mounting, supplied in tube. The operating temperature range spans -55°C to 100°C, covering industrial and some automotive cabin applications.
Agency approvals and typical sourcing
The part carries cUR, UR, and VDE agency approvals, which simplifies safety certification for end equipment destined for North American and European markets. Sourcing is through standard distribution — we can quote to your BOM quantity against current market pricing. No need for a heat sink at 100 mA RMS on-state current; the 6-DIP package dissipates that load without forced air.
