Phototriac for AC load switching
The Vishay VO2223B-X017T is a single-channel phototriac optoisolator in an 8-SMD gull-wing package, designed for driving resistive or inductive AC loads from a low-voltage logic or MCU signal. It combines a GaAs IR LED input with a power triac output rated for 1 A RMS continuous on-state current and 600 V off-state blocking voltage.
dV/dt immunity and transient robustness
A static dV/dt of 600 V/µs (typical) means the output triac will not falsely trigger from fast-rising voltage transients on the AC line — a critical parameter when switching motors, solenoids, or transformer-coupled loads where commutation noise is present. The 4470 Vrms isolation rating provides reinforced insulation between the control side and the AC mains, suitable for applications requiring a safety barrier per IEC/UL standards.
Drive current and trigger sensitivity
Maximum LED trigger current (Ift) is 10 mA, with a forward voltage drop of 1.4 V max. The hold current (Ih) is 25 mA — the load must draw at least this much to keep the triac latched once triggered.
Package and mounting
Supplied in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) for surface-mount assembly. The 8-SMD gull-wing package (7 leads) is compatible with standard reflow profiles.
Lifecycle and compliance
Approvals include cUR, UR, and VDE, easing acceptance in North American and European equipment.
