Dual Schottky for 200 V automotive rectification
The V4P22CHM3/H is a dual common-cathode Schottky rectifier from Vishay's automotive-grade Trench Sky rectifier family, rated for 200 V reverse voltage and 2.8 A average forward current per diode. Qualified to AEC-Q101, the part carries the full automotive stress screen — temperature cycling, high-temperature reverse bias, and humidity bias — making it suitable for under-hood DC-DC stages, alternator rectifiers, and OR-ing diodes on 12 V and 48 V bus rails where the ambient temperature reaches 125 °C and the junction must survive 175 °C.
Junction temperature and leakage trade-off
The fast-recovery switching speed (under 500 ns) is typical for a Schottky — no stored charge to sweep out — so the reverse-recovery loss is negligible compared to a fast-recovery pn diode. This matters for the converter dead-time: the diode's turn-off is limited by junction capacitance, not carrier lifetime.
TO-277A package — footprint and thermal pad
The TO-277A (SMPC) package is a 3-lead PowerDFN with an exposed die-attach paddle on the bottom. The paddle is the cathode common terminal and the primary heat path; the PCB copper area under the package directly sets the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance. A 1-inch-square copper pour on the top layer, with vias to an inner ground plane, keeps the junction below 150 °C at the rated 2.8 A per diode in a 85 °C ambient. No special bake-out is needed if the sealed reel is opened within the floor-life window.
The AEC-Q101 qualification is maintained on the current die and assembly line, so the part is valid for both new automotive designs and production replenishment.
