150 V Schottky for automotive power rails
The Vishay V2NM153-M3/I is a TMBS® (Trench MOS Barrier Schottky) rectifier rated for 150 V reverse voltage and 1.7 A average rectified current, housed in a DFN3820A package with wettable flanks. It carries AEC-Q101 qualification, making it a fit for automotive power-train, lighting, and body-control modules where load-dump transients can exceed 60 V on a 12 V bus. The 150 V headroom gives the designer margin against those spikes without oversizing to a 200 V part.
Forward drop and switching speed
Forward voltage is specified at 970 mV maximum at 2 A, which is typical for a 150 V trench Schottky — the trade-off for the higher voltage blocking is a slightly higher Vf compared to a 40 V or 60 V part. The fast-recovery category (≤ 500 ns, > 200 mA Io) means it handles the reverse-recovery charge cleanly in a hard-switching converter, keeping the switching node ringing under control. Junction capacitance measures 110 pF at 4 V reverse bias, a reasonable figure for the voltage class.
The DFN3820A (2-VDFN) is a small, 3.8 mm × 2.0 mm footprint with wettable flanks — that means the side of the package has exposed metal for solder-fillet inspection, which is a requirement in many automotive assembly lines. It is surface-mount only, so hand-soldering is possible with a hot-air station or a fine-tipped iron if you are prototyping, but the wettable flanks make AOI-friendly reflow the intended process.
The TMBS® series from Vishay includes several voltage and current variants in the same DFN3820A footprint, but this specific 150 V / 1.7 A grade is the one to target for 48 V mild-hybrid or 12 V automotive auxiliary supplies.
