5 kV isolation in a 4-DIP — the galvanic barrier for industrial controls
The TCED1100 is a single-channel phototransistor optocoupler in a 4-DIP through-hole package, rated for 5000Vrms isolation between input and output. It is designed for DC input and provides a transistor output with a minimum current transfer ratio of 600% at 1 mA forward current. Typical applications include PLCs, motor drives, power supplies, and any industrial equipment requiring a robust galvanic barrier against ground loops or high-voltage transients.
A minimum CTR of 600% at 1 mA forward current means the output transistor can sink up to 80 mA with only 1 mA driving the LED. This high gain is useful in low-power or high-temperature environments where the LED drive current must be minimised. The Vce saturation is limited to 1V max, so the output drop stays low when driving a logic input or a small relay. The 35V output rating and 80 mA per channel give you headroom for 24V industrial loads or opto-isolated I/O modules.
It ships in tube form, which is common for low-volume production and prototyping.
