5300Vrms isolation — where it fits
The Vishay SFH6106-3X001 is a single-channel phototransistor optocoupler in a 4-SMD gull-wing package. Its 5300Vrms isolation rating suits it for galvanic isolation in industrial motor drives, switched-mode power supply feedback loops, and PLC I/O modules where safety isolation between control and power stages is required. The transistor output with a 70V collector-emitter maximum and 50mA per channel handles logic-level signalling and low-current load switching.
CTR bin and drive margin
The SFH6106-3X001 is binned with a current transfer ratio of 100% to 200% at a forward current of 10mA. That 2:1 min-to-max spread is tighter than the full-family range, which means the LED drive current can be set with less overdrive headroom — useful when minimising input-side power draw or when the microcontroller GPIO can only source a few milliamps. At 10mA forward current the typical forward voltage is 1.25V, compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic outputs through a series resistor.
Switching speed and temperature range
Typical rise and fall times are 2µs each, with turn-on of 3µs and turn-off of 2.3µs. That puts it in the medium-speed class — fine for 10-100 kHz PWM isolation or status feedback, but not for high-speed digital comms. Vce saturation is clamped at 400mV max, keeping the output low-level voltage within logic thresholds.
