Dual-channel optocoupler for galvanic isolation in industrial control
The Vishay MCT62H is a dual-channel optocoupler with a DC input and transistor output, packaged in an 8-DIP through-hole package (0.300", 7.62mm). Each channel can sink up to 50 mA at a maximum output voltage of 70 V, with a typical Vce saturation of 300 mV — enough to drive a downstream logic gate or relay coil without an extra buffer transistor.
A minimum current transfer ratio of 100% at 5 mA forward current means the output transistor can saturate with a modest LED drive — useful when the upstream controller has limited current drive per I/O pin. Typical turn-on time is 6 µs and turn-off time is 5 µs, with rise/fall times of 3 µs and 4.7 µs respectively; these numbers suit 10–100 kHz switching applications like isolated serial interfaces or PWM feedback paths. The forward voltage is 1.25 V typical at 5 mA, and the absolute maximum DC forward current is 60 mA — stay well below that for reliable long-term operation, especially at elevated ambient temperatures.
