What this bridge rectifier does on a board
The MB6M-E3/45: The MB6M-/45 is a single-phase bridge rectifier that converts AC to pulsating DC — four diodes in one through-hole package, rated 600 V peak reverse and 500 mA average rectified output. The 600 V peak reverse voltage gives comfortable margin on a 240 VAC mains line (which peaks around 340 V), so a transient or surge won't punch through the junction. At 500 mA average, this is a light-load part — think bias supplies for relay coils, small fan drives, or the primary-side housekeeping rail in a switched-mode power supply.
Through-hole package — field-swappable without a hot-air station
The 4-DIP (0.200", 5.08 mm) through-hole package is a standard footprint — you can swap it on site with a soldering iron and solder wick, no hot-air station or reflow oven needed. Forward voltage and leakage — what they mean for efficiency
Forward voltage is 1 V max at 400 mA — at full 500 mA load the drop will be slightly higher, but still under 1.1 V typical, so conduction loss is about 0.5 W at rated current. Reverse leakage is 5 µA at 600 V — negligible for most circuits, but worth noting if the load is a high-impedance sensor or a capacitor that holds charge for long periods.
