What the 6 A and 800 V ratings mean for your power supply
The KBU6K-E4/51: Rated 6 A average rectified output (Io) at a 1 V forward drop — at full load the die dissipates 6 W. In a typical 240 VAC off-line supply the 800 V peak reverse (Vrrm) gives a 1.4× margin above the rectified peak, enough to handle normal line surges without avalanche stress. Reverse leakage is only 5 µA at the full 800 V rating, so the die stays cool at idle.
Package and rework reality — the KBU through-hole footprint
The 4-SIP KBU package is a standard through-hole bridge rectifier footprint — four pins in a single in-line row, easy to hand-solder and rework. The through-hole leads anchor the part against vibration better than a surface-mount package in the same power class. Will it survive the hot air? Yes — the molded epoxy body handles typical wave-solder profiles and the thick leads conduct heat away from the junction during rework. Pin 1 is clearly marked by the chamfered corner on the package body, so orientation is unambiguous under a magnifier.
