Four channels, 5.3 kV isolation — what this optocoupler delivers
The Vishay ILQ615-4X009 is a quad-channel optocoupler in a 16-SMD gull-wing package, built for galvanic isolation up to 5300Vrms between input and output. Each channel uses a DC-input LED driving a phototransistor output, with a current transfer ratio (CTR) guaranteed between 160% and 320% at a forward current of 10mA.
CTR and switching speed — the practical limits
With a minimum CTR of 160% at 10mA input, the ILQ615-4X009 provides enough gain to drive a logic input or a small relay coil without an external buffer. The 320% maximum ensures the output doesn't saturate too hard, keeping turn-off time predictable. Typical turn-on time is 3µs, turn-off 2.3µs, with rise and fall both at 2µs — fast enough for 100 kHz switching or serial data isolation at moderate baud rates. The 70V output rating and 50mA per-channel current handle most PLC input modules and low-side switch applications.
Package and mounting — surface-mount with gull-wing leads
The package footprint is standard for quad optocouplers, and the gull-wing form provides good visual inspection access after reflow.
