Quad-channel optocoupler for industrial isolation
The Vishay ILQ2-X007 is a four-channel phototransistor optocoupler in a 16-SMD gull-wing package, rated for 5300Vrms isolation between input and output. It takes a DC input on the LED side and switches a transistor output on the other side, with a current transfer ratio (CTR) guaranteed between 100% and 500% at 10mA forward current. That CTR window is wide enough to handle 5V logic-level shifting without extra gain stages, and it still works for 3.3V logic if you size the input resistor right. The output transistor is rated for 70V collector-emitter and 50mA per channel, so it can drive small relays, PLC inputs, or signal-level loads directly.
Switching speed and timing margin
Rise and fall times are 2.6µs and 2.2µs typical, with turn-on and turn-off times of 1.2µs and 2.3µs. That puts the ILQ2-X007 in the standard-speed optocoupler class — fine for 10 kbps to 100 kbps data rates, status feedback, or gate drive at switching frequencies under a few kHz. For faster serial buses like CAN or RS-485, you would want a digital isolator or a high-speed opto with sub-microsecond timing.
Temperature range and deployment environment
The 100°C top end covers most factory-floor and under-hood environments, though for continuous 125°C junction you would step to a high-temp rated opto. The 5300Vrms isolation is enough for reinforced insulation in mains-connected equipment per IEC 60950-1, provided the creepage on the PCB layout meets the standard.
