5300 Vrms dual-channel optocoupler for industrial isolation
The ILD621GB is a Vishay dual-channel optocoupler in an 8-DIP through-hole package, providing 5300 Vrms galvanic isolation between a DC input LED and a phototransistor output on each of its two independent channels. Each output transistor can sink up to 50 mA and block up to 70 V, making it suitable for driving PLC digital inputs, relay coils, or DC motor-controller logic interfaces where ground loops must be broken. The wide operating temperature range from -55°C to 100°C covers industrial floor, outdoor telecom cabinets, and under-hood automotive auxiliary circuits without requiring a commercial-grade derating.
The current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified between 100% and 600% at a forward current of 5 mA — a wide spread that forces the designer to choose a pull-up resistor and input drive current that guarantee a logic-low output even at the minimum CTR corner. Typical rise and fall times are 2 µs each, with turn-on time of 3 µs and turn-off time of 2.3 µs — adequate for DC-level sensing, 50/60 Hz line-frequency isolation, or low-speed serial protocols like 9600 baud UART, but not for high-speed data buses.
