Ratings and thermal margin for the BOM
The GSIB15A80-E3/45: 800 V peak reverse (Vrrm) gives 2× margin above a 240 VAC mains peak of 340 V — enough to handle line transients without avalanche stress. The 3.5 A average rectified current (Io) is the continuous DC load the die can deliver; for a capacitive-input filter the RMS current through the diode is higher, so derate the average output by 20-30% in that topology. Forward voltage is 1 V max at 7.5 A — this is the conduction loss at surge current, not the steady-state drop. At rated 3.5 A the Vf will be lower, typically around 0.9 V, keeping junction rise manageable. Reverse leakage is 10 µA at 800 V, 25°C; leakage roughly doubles every 10°C junction rise, so at 125°C it approaches 1.6 mA — budget this into the thermal calculation for high-ambient enclosures.
