Rectifier ratings and the thermal envelope
The DFL1506S-E3/77: The Vishay DFL1506S-/77 is a single-phase bridge rectifier in the compact DFS surface-mount package. Rated for 600 V peak repetitive reverse voltage and 1.5 A average rectified output current, it handles the primary-side rectification in off-line power supplies up to that current level — the 1.1 V forward drop at 1.5 A sets the conduction loss, which must be dissipated into the board copper.
Supplied in the 4-SMD gull-wing package (supplier device package DFS), this is a surface-mount part intended for reflow soldering. The gull-wing leads provide visual solder-joint inspection access and some stress relief between the die and the board. The Tape & Reel and Cut Tape packaging options suit both high-volume pick-and-place and prototype quantities.
