Clamping voltage and standoff margin
The 7 V reverse standoff voltage means the diode does not conduct at the nominal 5 V or 12 V rails it protects; the 7.79 V minimum breakdown voltage provides a guard band before the avalanche region activates. Clamping at 12.1 V limits the voltage seen by the downstream IC below the typical 15 V abs-max of a 12 V-rated automotive ECU input — the 130 A peak pulse current handles a direct battery-line surge without exceeding the junction temperature limit.
