Product details

Six independent inverter gates, each with a single input, in a 14-SOIC footprint. The open-drain output (no internal pull-up) lets you wire-AND multiple outputs to a common bus or drive loads up to 5.2 mA per channel at a voltage determined by an external pull-up resistor — useful for level translation between 2V and 6V domains. Supply range of 2V to 6V covers 3.3V and 5V logic rails directly. The 1 µA quiescent current keeps standby draw negligible in battery-powered or always-on subsystems. Propagation delay of 15 ns at 6V with a 50 pF load is typical for the 74HC family; at lower supply voltages the delay increases, so budget timing margin if running at 2V or 3.3V.

Frequently asked questions

Is 74HC05D compatible with 5V logic?

Yes. The supply range of 2V to 6V includes 5V, and the input logic levels (low: 0.5V to 1.8V; high: 1.5V to 4.2V) are compatible with standard 5V CMOS and TTL families. The open-drain output requires an external pull-up resistor to the 5V rail.
