The ±1% tolerance on the reference voltage means the shunt regulator's output stays within a tight band across temperature and load. For a 5 V rail derived from this reference, the worst-case deviation is 50 mV — enough to keep a feedback loop stable or to bias an op-amp without recalibration. The adjustable output extends to 36 V maximum, so the same part can serve a 3.3 V logic reference, a 12 V supply monitor, or a 24 V industrial threshold detector. The minimum cathode current is 700 µA, which sets the lower bound on the resistor divider current for stable operation.
