Wide-input buck controller for 42V rails
The LM25117PMHX/NOPB is a current-mode buck controller from Texas Instruments, designed for step-down conversion from supply rails spanning 4.5V to 42V. Its wide input range covers standard 12V, 24V, and 36V industrial buses, including the cold-crank and load-dump transients common in automotive and telecom environments. Switching frequency is programmable up to 750kHz, allowing the designer to trade off inductor size against switching losses. The controller integrates synchronous rectification, which eliminates the freewheeling diode forward drop and improves efficiency at high step-down ratios.

The exposed pad also provides a low-impedance ground return for the gate-drive loop, which is critical for clean switching at 750kHz.
ROHS3 compliance is confirmed, so the part meets the European Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive without exemption. The part is sourced through authorized distribution channels, and each reel carries full lot traceability back to the TI factory. For a procurement desk, the active status means no urgency to stockpile or qualify a replacement.
