Product details

Low-side driver with built-in fault handling

The STMicroelectronics VND5N07-E is a single-channel low-side N-channel power switch from the OMNIFET II and VIPower series. It switches a grounded load up to 3.5 A continuous from a 55 V max supply rail, with a maximum on-resistance of 200 mOhm. The input is a simple on/off logic signal — no external gate drive or charge pump needed. Integrated fault protection covers current limiting, over-temperature, and over-voltage, so it handles lamp inrush, motor stall, or a shorted load without blowing the fuse or the PCB trace. No Vcc supply required; the gate is driven from the logic input itself, which simplifies the BOM by one regulator rail.

Mounting and thermal checklist

Surface-mount to a TO-252 footprint. The tab is the drain — connect it to the load return path with a wide trace or a copper pour.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Rds(on) of the VND5N07-E?

The maximum on-resistance is 200 mOhm. That's the worst-case value over temperature and current — typical performance is lower, but the 200 mOhm max is the number to use for worst-case dissipation calculations.

Is the VND5N07-E RoHS compliant?

Yes, it is ROHS3 compliant.

What is the data sheet for the VND5N07-E?

The datasheet is available from STMicroelectronics under the OMNIFET II product line. It covers the full electrical characteristics, thermal curves, and application notes for the VND5N07-E and related devices in the series.
