Product details

1A, 170V Schottky — rectifier or flyback clamp

The STPS1170AF is a 170 V, 1 A Schottky diode in the DO-214AC SMA Flat Leads package. The 170 V reverse rating gives headroom above a 48 V or 72 V bus, and the 1 A average current suits secondary-side rectification in moderate-power supplies or as a freewheeling clamp across a relay or solenoid. Forward drop is 890 mV maximum at 2 A — at the rated 1 A the Vf will be lower, but the 2 A figure is the one to use for worst-case conduction loss in a thermal model. Reverse leakage is 1.5 µA at 170 V, 25°C junction. Leakage doubles with temperature, so at 125°C junction the standby loss is still under a few milliwatts — not a concern for most designs, but worth checking if the diode sits across a high-impedance node.

Active, ROHS3 — no lifecycle pressure

ROHS3 compliant and part of the ECOPACK® series, so it clears EU and global regulatory requirements without a waiver.

The DO-214AC SMA Flat Leads package is a surface-mount footprint with a low seated height — about 1.1 mm above the board. The flat leads reduce the solder-joint stress compared to a standard J-bend, which helps in thermal-cycling applications. Junction temperature range is -65°C to 150°C, covering industrial and most automotive under-hood environments. The 150°C max junction means the thermal resistance to ambient must keep the junction below that at the full 1 A load.
