Schottky barrier diode pair for 60 V rail rectification
The RBR20NS60ATL from ROHM Semiconductor is a dual Schottky barrier diode in a common-cathode configuration, housed in the TO-263-3 (D²Pak) surface-mount package. With a maximum reverse voltage of 60 V and an average rectified current of 10 A per diode, it is sized for secondary-side rectification in 12 V and 24 V DC-DC converters, OR-ing diodes in redundant power feeds, and freewheeling clamps in low-voltage motor drives. The 60 V blocking voltage gives headroom above a 48 V nominal bus — a 48 V telecom supply can ride through transients up to 60 V without avalanche stress. The 10 A per-diode rating at a 150 °C junction temperature ceiling means the device can carry continuous current in a 70 °C ambient with forced airflow, provided the PCB copper area under the exposed tab handles the thermal dissipation.
Forward drop and switching speed
Forward voltage is specified at 640 mV maximum at 10 A — a Schottky's conduction loss is the product of Vf and forward current, so at 10 A the per-diode dissipation hits 6.4 W before accounting for the duty cycle. The fast recovery characteristic (≤ 500 ns, > 200 mA) confirms this is a majority-carrier device with negligible reverse-recovery charge, so it does not add a switching loss spike in a hard-switched converter running at 100 kHz or below. The common-cathode pair shares the same tab, so both diodes see the same heatsink temperature; thermal coupling between the two dice means the total power dissipation is shared, not additive, when both diodes conduct simultaneously.
Package, mounting, and compliance
The TO-263-3 (D²Pak) footprint is a standard surface-mount power package with an exposed copper tab on the bottom — the tab is the common cathode connection. The supplier device package code is LPDS. ROHM lists the product status as Active and confirms RoHS3 compliance.
