Device identity and I²C interface
The BH1749NUC-E2: The BH1749NUC- is a digital color sensor from ROHM Semiconductor, identified by the base MPN BH1749. It outputs 16-bit digital data over a standard I²C bus, making it a direct drop-in for any MCU with an I²C peripheral — no external ADC or analog signal chain required. The I²C interface carries the full 16-bit resolution per channel, so the host reads raw color channel counts without on-sensor scaling. This means the system firmware handles the color-space conversion and white-balance math, not the sensor itself.
Supply voltage and temperature grade
The 2.3 V minimum is low enough to stay alive during a battery discharge cycle in portable gear. An outdoor lighting controller or a dashboard ambient-light sensor that sees 75°C on a hot day still has margin before the die hits the upper limit.
Current draw and package options
Typical operating current is 300 µA — low enough that a 500 mAh coin cell runs the sensor continuously for over 1600 hours. For duty-cycled operation (one measurement per second), the average current drops to the microamp range. The CT option avoids the full-reel commitment during the bring-up phase.
Active lifecycle — sourcing posture
It remains a current-production part suitable for both new designs and existing BOM positions. No stock-holding claim — quoted per RFQ against the BOM quantity.
