Flyback controller for isolated offline supplies
The BM2P092F-GE2 is a ROHM offline flyback switching controller, delivering up to 500 mA from a single output in a positive configuration. It operates from an 8.9 V to 26 V input rail and switches at a fixed 65 kHz — a common frequency for flyback converters in the 5–15 W range, keeping the transformer core size manageable without pushing the EMI filter into a higher-cost band.
Housed in the 8-SOIC (0.173", 4.40 mm width) package with a supplier device code of 8-SOP, this is a standard surface-mount footprint that reflows cleanly on a standard lead-free profile — no hidden thermal pad under the body, so the hot-air station lifts it without cooking the adjacent passives. The 1.27 mm pitch and visible pin-1 mark mean a quick continuity check after rework confirms alignment; the part is also available in Cut Tape for prototype runs.
Thermal and switching limits
No synchronous rectifier on-chip, so the secondary-side Schottky handles the post-rectifier current; the 65 kHz switching rate keeps the core loss low enough that a standard ferrite (e.g. PC47 or N87) runs without saturating at the 500 mA output ceiling.
