Boost LED driver with dual dimming control
The BD9408FV-E2: The BD9408FV- from ROHM is a single-output step-up (boost) DC-DC regulator designed for backlight LED applications. It integrates the switching FET internally and supports both analog and PWM dimming methods, giving the designer two options for brightness control without external dimming components.
9-35V input range, 50kHz-2MHz switching
Input supply range spans 9V minimum to 35V maximum — wide enough to cover nominal 12V and 24V automotive or industrial rails with margin for transients. The switching frequency is programmable from 50 kHz up to 2 MHz, so the designer can trade inductor size against efficiency: lower frequencies reduce switching losses, higher frequencies shrink the magnetics footprint. Operating temperature range covers -40°C to 105°C, which qualifies the part for under-hood automotive and outdoor industrial environments where ambient heat is a factor.
