USB PD controller for Type-C designs
The BD93E11GWL-E2: The BD93E11GWL- is a USB Type-C Power Delivery controller from ROHM Semiconductor, handling the negotiation and management of power contracts over the USB-C cable. It communicates over an I²C interface, making it straightforward to pair with a host MCU or embedded controller that already has an I²C bus available. The supply range spans 3.1 V to 5.5 V on one rail, with additional pins accepting 3.67 V to 22 V and 4.9 V to 5.5 V — covering the typical USB-C VBUS and VCONN domains without external level shifting.
Housed in a 36-ball UFBGA (UCSP50L2C), the package measures 0.50 mm pitch — a fine-pitch BGA that requires a controlled reflow profile and X-ray inspection for voiding. The 190 µA typical supply current keeps the thermal budget low, but the BGA footprint still benefits from a solid ground-plane connection under the die for heat spreading. Operating temperature range is -30°C to 85°C, which covers most consumer and industrial ambient environments but not extended automotive under-hood conditions.
