Adjustable LDO in a TO-263-6 D²Pak — 500 mA, 55 dB PSRR, 125°C rated
The ROHM BD3572YHFP-MTR is a positive adjustable low-dropout linear regulator delivering up to 500 mA. It accepts an input voltage up to 36 V and produces an adjustable output from 2.8 V to 12 V. The 55 dB PSRR at 120 Hz helps clean up ripple from rectified mains or a switching pre-regulator. Quiescent current sits at 50 µA, making it a candidate for always-on loads in automotive or industrial systems where the regulator stays powered even in standby. Protection features include over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit.
Dropout and headroom — 0.48 V at 200 mA
Maximum dropout voltage is 0.48 V at 200 mA load. That means a 3.3 V output needs at least 3.78 V on the input to stay in regulation — fine from a 5 V rail or a 12 V battery that doesn't sag below about 3.8 V during crank. The 36 V input max gives plenty of margin for 12 V or 24 V systems, including load-dump transients if external clamping is present.
Package and rework — TO-263-6 (D²Pak) with tab
The BD3572YHFP-MTR comes in a TO-263-6 (D²Pak) surface-mount package with 5 leads plus a tab — the supplier device package is HRP-5. The tab is the main thermal path; a solid via stitch under the tab to the ground plane is what keeps the junction cool at 500 mA continuous. Rework is straightforward with hot air: preheat the board to 125°C, then hit the tab until the solder flows. The tab is large enough that a standard hot-air nozzle covers it. The package is ROHS3 compliant.
