Product details

Fixed 3V rail with 500mA headroom

The BD30IA5MEFJ-LBH2 is a single-output positive LDO from ROHM, delivering a fixed 3V rail at up to 500mA continuous. The output is trimmed to 3V (minimum/fixed) with no external divider needed — the regulation loop holds the voltage steady as long as the input stays above 3V plus the dropout margin.

Dropout and quiescent current — the real trade-off

Quiescent current is 700 µA typical; that Iq flows regardless of load, so at light loads the efficiency is dominated by the LDO's own draw, not the output current. The 5.5V maximum input voltage limits the upstream bus to 5V logic rails or 3.3V-5V intermediate buses — it won't tolerate a 12V or 24V supply without a pre-regulator.

Protection features and temperature grade

Built-in over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit protection cover the common failure modes in a power rail — the LDO folds back or shuts down before the junction exceeds the safe operating area. Operating temperature spans -40°C to 105°C, which covers industrial enclosures and automotive cabin environments (but not under-hood).

Package and thermal path

Cut Tape works for prototyping or small-batch builds.

Frequently asked questions

Does this LDO include soft-start or enable control?

Yes, it has both Enable and Soft Start control features. The Enable pin allows the output to be gated on/off; Soft Start limits inrush current during startup.
