24-channel linear LED driver with AEC-Q100 grade
The BD2808MUV-ME2 is a 24-channel linear LED driver from ROHM Semiconductor, part of the Automotive, AEC-Q100 series. It is designed for backlight applications, delivering up to 50 mA per channel with PWM dimming control.
Output architecture and external switching
The driver integrates 24 constant-current sink outputs, each rated for 50 mA. The total output voltage ceiling is 20 V, which sets the headroom for the LED string forward voltage plus the driver dropout. Internal switches are not provided — the BD2808MUV-ME2 is a linear sink driver, so an external boost or charge-pump converter is required to generate the LED supply rail above the input voltage. The 1.23 MHz switching frequency on the external converter allows small inductor and capacitor values. PWM dimming is applied directly to the enable inputs of each channel.
Package and thermal interface
Housed in a 48-lead VFQFN with an exposed pad (supplier device package VQFN48MCV070). No moisture sensitivity level is stated in the record, but a VFQFN of this size typically requires bake before reflow if exposed to ambient humidity beyond the floor life.
ROHS3 compliant — no exemptions beyond the standard RoHS substance restrictions. The part carries no UL or IEC certification in the record; the AEC-Q100 qualification is the primary automotive reliability standard.
