Dual USB power switch in an 8-SOIC footprint
The BD2062FJ-LBE2 is a dual-channel high-side N-channel power switch from ROHM, purpose-built for USB VBUS distribution. The 80 mOhm typical Rds(on) keeps conduction loss low enough that a standard 8-SOIC package (3.90 mm body width) can dissipate the heat without forced airflow, provided the PCB copper pour under the part is sized for the load current.
Fault protection set that covers real-world USB faults
The protection block combines fixed current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, reverse-current blocking, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO). The fixed current limit means the switch self-clamps at a preset threshold — useful for USB ports where a simple resettable fuse is not enough and a PTC would add series resistance. The reverse-current block prevents back-feed from a powered device into the bus when the switch is off, which matters for dual-role USB ports or shared power-rail topologies. Two auxiliary features round out the part: a load-discharge circuit that bleeds the downstream capacitance when the switch turns off (prevents a floating VBUS that could hold a peripheral in an indeterminate state), and a status-flag output that asserts on fault conditions — over-current, over-temperature, or UVLO — so the host controller can log or retry the port. The input type is non-inverting and the interface is a simple On/Off logic pin per channel — no I2C or SMBus overhead. The supply voltage (Vcc/Vdd) is not required; the switch is self-powered from the load rail, which simplifies the bill of materials by eliminating a separate bias supply.
