The BD00HA5WEFJ-E2: The BD00HA5WEFJ- is a single-output positive adjustable LDO from ROHM, rated 500 mA continuous output. Dropout voltage is 0.9 V maximum at the full 500 mA load. That means the input rail needs to stay at least 0.9 V above the programmed output voltage across the whole load range, or the output falls out of regulation. For a 3.3 V output, budget the input at 4.2 V minimum under load. Quiescent current is 0.6 mA typical, with a maximum supply current of 900 µA. On a battery-powered or always-on rail this Iq is the floor the system draws even at no load — it matters for standby budget.
Package and thermal — the exposed-pad layout decision
The exposed pad is the main thermal path; the PCB layout must solder it to a copper plane, not leave it floating, or the thermal protection trips early. Mounting is surface-mount only. The Enable control pin lets the regulator be shut down externally, dropping the load current to near-zero — useful for sequencing or power-save modes. Operating temperature range is -25°C to 85°C — industrial-grade but not full automotive. For under-hood or high-temp enclosure use, check the derating at the upper end.
Protection and compliance
Built-in protection includes over-current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, and a soft-start circuit that limits inrush current on power-up. These make the part robust for a field-swappable rail where the load capacitance is not tightly controlled.
