12V fixed-output LDO, 1A, in a rework-friendly TO-252-3
The BAJ2CC0FP-E2: The BAJ2CC0FP- is a single-output positive linear regulator from ROHM Semiconductor, delivering a fixed 12V output at up to 1A. It comes in a TO-252-3 (DPak) surface-mount package — the tab is the output and the exposed pad pulls heat into the board copper. Input voltage range goes to 25V max, and the dropout at full load is low enough that a 14V or 24V rail feeds it comfortably. The 55dB PSRR at 120Hz means it knocks down the ripple from a full-wave rectifier stage — useful when powering sensitive analog circuitry from an unregulated bulk supply.
Ripple rejection and protection — what the numbers mean on the bench
55dB PSRR at 120Hz is the standard power-line frequency after rectification. That translates to a ripple attenuation of about 560× — a 1Vpp ripple on the input becomes roughly 1.8 mVpp on the output. For a 12V rail feeding an op-amp or ADC, that keeps the supply noise out of the signal band. Built-in over-current, over-temperature, and over-voltage protection (OCP, OTP, OVP) mean the regulator shuts itself down before the die or the load sees damage. The 2.5 mA quiescent current is steady across load — no sleep-state trickle, but it is a fixed regulator running a 12V rail, not a battery-powered LDO. Operating temperature spans -40°C to 125°C, so it handles under-hood automotive or industrial enclosure ambient without derating the output current.
Package and board-fit — TO-252-3 rework reality
The TO-252-3 (DPak) is a single-gauge leadframe with a large exposed tab on the bottom. The tab is the output pin and the primary thermal path — a decent copper pour on the top layer and a few vias to the ground plane keep the junction temperature in check at 1A. Supplier device package is TO-252, which is the same footprint as the standard DPak. The tape-and-reel option (TR) is the production-friendly format; cut tape (CT) is available for prototyping or small-batch builds.
