3.3V fixed-output LDO rated for 2A — the TO-220FP power regulator for industrial rails
The ROHM BA33DD0WT is a single-output positive fixed LDO that delivers 3.3V at up to 2A from a maximum input of 25V. It comes in a through-hole TO-220-5 Full Pack package (supplier device package TO-220FP) with an isolated tab that simplifies heatsinking without an insulating pad.
0.7V dropout at 2A — headroom budgeting for the 3.3V rail
The maximum dropout voltage of 0.7V at 2A means the input must stay above 4.0V to maintain regulation. That is a tight spec for a 5V rail under brownout or for a 3.6V battery near end-of-discharge — plan the input filter capacitor and bulk storage accordingly. The quiescent current of 120 µA is low for a 2A LDO, so the part does not waste much standby power on always-on rails.
The 55 dB power-supply rejection ratio at 120 Hz attenuates the ripple from a full-wave rectified mains supply by a factor of about 560. That is adequate for most industrial logic and analog front-ends that do not need the 70+ dB of a post-regulator. If the load draws fast transients, the 2A output stage and the enable control feature let you sequence the rail on demand.
The part is ROHS3 compliant.
Built-in protection suite
Over-current, over-temperature, and over-voltage protection are integrated, so the regulator can survive a shorted output or a thermal runaway condition without external clamp diodes. The enable pin gives a logic-level on/off control for power sequencing.
