The BA08CC0T comes in a TO-220-3 Full Pack (TO-220FP) through-hole package. The full-pack moulding isolates the tab from the heatsink electrically, so no insulating pad or washer is needed between the tab and the chassis — the back of the package is the thermal path, not the electrical node. The TO-220FP's thermal resistance is higher than a standard TO-220 because the plastic surrounds the die — budget a heatsink if the load current stays above 500 mA continuously.
Output regulation and PSRR — what the numbers mean
Fixed 8 V output, 1 A continuous. That is adequate for powering analog front-ends that do not need post-regulation, but a downstream LDO or filter is still warranted if the load draws fast current transients above the regulator's bandwidth. Quiescent current is 2.5 mA typical, rising to 5 mA max at full supply. This is not a micropower LDO — the 2.5 mA floor matters for battery-powered designs where the system spends most of its time in sleep. For always-on line-powered equipment the Iq is negligible.
Protection and compliance
Built-in over-current, over-temperature, and over-voltage protection. Over-temperature shutdown prevents thermal runaway if the heatsinking is undersized. RoHS3 compliant.
