Package and board integration — TO-220FP full-pack
The BA00JC5WT comes in a TO-220-5 Full Pack (TO-220FP) through-hole package. The full-pack moulding isolates the tab from the die — no insulating pad or washer needed between the tab and the heatsink, which simplifies the thermal path and reduces assembly steps. Five pins in a single row at 2.54 mm pitch: input, ground, enable, output, and adjust. The tab is the back of the package and carries no electrical potential, so it can be bolted directly to a chassis or shared heatsink without an isolation layer.
Rated 1.5 A continuous output. The dropout voltage is specified at 0.5 V max at 500 mA — at full 1.5 A load the actual dropout will be higher, so budget at least 1 V headroom between the input rail and the desired output voltage to stay in regulation across temperature. The 1.5 V minimum fixed reference means the regulator cannot go below that floor — a 1.2 V core rail needs a different part.
PSRR and quiescent current — analog rail suitability
PSRR is 55 dB typical at 120 Hz, dropping to 50 dB at the same frequency — this is the line-frequency rejection for a full-wave rectified input. For a 12 V rail feeding a 5 V analog supply, expect about 55 dB of attenuation on the 100/120 Hz ripple, which is adequate for most 12-bit ADC references but marginal for 16-bit or audio circuits without additional post-filtering. Quiescent current is 130 µA typical. This is moderate for a 1.5 A LDO — not the lowest-Iq option for battery gear, but acceptable for always-on industrial rails where the load current dominates the power budget.
Protection and control features
Built-in over-current and over-temperature protection. The enable pin allows the output to be shut down without removing the input voltage — useful for sequenced power-up or fault recovery in multi-rail designs.
Temperature range and compliance
ROHS3 compliant per.
