80 V PNP in SOT-89 for automotive loads
The ROHM 2SAR554PHZGT100 is a PNP bipolar transistor qualified to AEC-Q101, rated for 80 V collector-emitter breakdown and 1.5 A continuous collector current. Packaged in a SOT-89 (TO-243AA) surface-mount case, it dissipates up to 500 mW. The 340 MHz transition frequency and 400 mV saturation voltage at 500 mA make it a fit for switching regulator pre-drive, solenoid actuation, and relay coil suppression in 12 V and 24 V automotive systems.
Vce(sat) is specified at 400 mV maximum with 25 mA base drive into 500 mA collector current. That is a forced beta of 20, typical for a saturated switch. The DC current gain (hFE) is guaranteed at 120 minimum at 100 mA, 3 V Vce — the linear-region gain you budget for the pre-drive resistor. At 1.5 A the gain will drop; the datasheet's typical curves (not reproduced here) show the roll-off. For a hard-switched load, size the base resistor to deliver at least Ic/20 at the minimum hFE corner.
