Standoff, breakdown, and the margin between them

The DO-214AB (SMC) is a two-terminal J-bend Gull-wing package, widely used across TVS families, which means the pad layout matches the common 1.5kW SMC pinout — a drop-in replacement in most designs. The wide metal tabs on both ends give the solder joint good thermal relief during reflow and make the part fairly tolerant of rework if the hot-air profile keeps the body below 245 °C for the recommended dwell. Tape-and-reel and cut-tape packaging options serve both high-volume assembly and hand-placement workflows.
