TVS diode for 8V rail protection
The SMCJ8V0CA: The 8V reverse standoff voltage means it stays transparent on an 8V DC rail and only starts conducting when the transient exceeds the 8.89V minimum breakdown threshold. A single bidirectional channel protects against both positive and negative transients — no need to orient the part on the board, which simplifies pick-and-place and reduces the chance of a polarity error in high-volume assembly.
The SMC footprint is larger than the SMA/SMB siblings, giving better thermal transfer to the PCB copper for repetitive surge events.
