Dual-channel isolation in a single 8-SOIC
The MOCD208R2M packs two independent phototransistor optocouplers into an 8-SOIC package, saving board area compared to using two single-channel parts. Each channel accepts a DC input and drives a phototransistor output with a minimum current transfer ratio of 40% at 10 mA forward current. The 2500Vrms isolation rating provides basic functional separation between input and output circuits — enough for many industrial and consumer applications where reinforced isolation is not mandated.
Switching speed and drive capability
Typical rise and fall times of 3.2 µs and 4.7 µs limit the usable data rate to roughly 100 kHz — fine for GPIO, relay drive, and slow sensor interfaces, but not for high-speed serial buses like SPI or I2C. Each output can sink up to 150 mA continuously with a maximum Vce saturation of 400 mV, making it suitable for driving small relays, LEDs, or logic inputs directly.
Temperature range and environment fit
Rated for -40°C to 100°C operation, the MOCD208R2M covers factory-floor, outdoor telecom, and HVAC control enclosures.
Lifecycle and sourcing reality
onsemi lists the MOCD208R2M as Active with ROHS3 compliance. Available in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT).
