The onsemi MOC3163VM is a 1-channel optoisolator with a Triac output, housed in a 6-DIP (0.300", 7.62mm) through-hole package supplied in a Tube. It provides 4170Vrms isolation between input and output, with a 600V off-state voltage rating and a minimum static dV/dt of 1kV/µs — the dV/dt figure tells you the part resists false triggering from fast voltage transients on the AC line, which matters when switching inductive loads like motors or solenoids. The built-in zero-crossing circuit ensures the Triac only turns on near the AC voltage zero crossing, reducing inrush current and EMI when driving resistive or lightly inductive loads.
It carries UL and IEC/EN/DIN approvals, so it meets the safety isolation requirements for equipment sold into North American and European markets.
