Triac output with 800 V off-state and 1 kV/µs dV/dt
The MOC3073SVM is a 1-channel Triac-output optoisolator from onsemi, rated for 800 V off-state voltage and a minimum static dV/dt of 1 kV/µs. The high dV/dt immunity keeps the output from false-triggering when the load is a motor, solenoid, or contactor — common noise sources on factory-floor AC lines. There is no zero-cross circuit, so the triac fires immediately when the LED current exceeds the 6 mA maximum trigger current. This makes the part suitable for phase-control dimming or random-turn-on heating loads, but the designer should budget an external snubber for inductive loads to limit the commutation dV/dt.
4170 Vrms isolation for mains-referenced drive
Isolation is rated at 4170 Vrms, which covers reinforced isolation requirements for 230/277 VAC line-voltage triac drive. The part is UL recognized, a practical gate for North American safety certification — no separate agency file needed for the opto itself. The surface-mount package is 6-SMD with Gull Wing leads, supplied in Tube. The Gull Wing footprint is common for wave-solder or reflow assembly; the 6-SMD body keeps the creepage distance consistent with the 4170 Vrms rating.
