Product details

The onsemi MOC3012VM is a 1-channel optoisolator with a Triac output in a through-hole 6-DIP package (0.300", 7.62mm). It provides 4170Vrms isolation between the LED input and the Triac output, rated for a 250 V off-state voltage. The LED trigger current is 5 mA max, with a typical forward voltage of 1.15V, and the DC forward current is rated to 60 mA max. The Triac holds at 100 µA typical.

Isolation barrier and certification

The 4170Vrms isolation rating is the test voltage applied across the barrier — this certifies the part for reinforced insulation in equipment meeting IEC/EN/DIN and UL requirements. The MOC3012VM carries UL and IEC/EN/DIN approvals, and is ROHS3 compliant per onsemi's lifecycle status.

Temperature range and switching characteristics

The absence of a zero-crossing circuit means the Triac fires on any phase angle — suitable for phase-control circuits like dimmers or heater drives where you need the full conduction angle.
