Schmitt-trigger input stage — noise immunity for slow edges
The MM74HCT14MTCX is a hex inverter with Schmitt-trigger inputs, meaning the switching thresholds are 0.5-0.6 V for low and 1.9-2.1 V for high at 5 V supply — hysteresis that cleans up slow-rising or noisy digital signals before they reach the downstream logic. Six independent inverter channels in a single 14-TSSOP package, each with a single input, so one IC handles six signal-conditioning paths on a mixed-voltage 5 V board.
Output drive is 4.8 mA per channel for both high and low states, enough to drive one or two standard 74HCT loads or a short PCB trace without buffering.
Industrial temperature range and low quiescent current
Quiescent current is 1 µA max — the chip draws negligible power when the inputs are static, which matters for battery-backed or always-on signal-conditioning circuits.
