10 Mbps logic output optocoupler — key parametrics
The HCPL2631WV is a two-channel logic output optocoupler with a 10Mbps data rate, open collector output, and 2500Vrms isolation. Propagation delay is 75ns max (tpLH/tpHL), and rise/fall times are 50ns/12ns typical — fast enough for isolating digital buses like CAN or RS-485 at moderate speeds. Common mode transient immunity is 5kV/µs minimum, meaning it rejects fast voltage transients between input and output sides — critical in motor-drive or inverter environments where high dV/dt couples across the isolation barrier.
Package and supply integration
Housed in an 8-DIP (0.400-inch, 10.16mm) through-hole package, the HCPL2631WV mounts directly into a standard DIP socket or solders into a PCB. The 8-MDIP supplier device package footprint is shared with many industry-standard dual-channel optocouplers, easing board layout. Supply voltage range is 4.5V to 5.5V — compatible with 5V CMOS/TTL logic rails. The LED forward voltage is 1.4V typical, and the maximum forward current is 30mA, so a series resistor from the logic output to the LED anode is required. Each output channel can sink up to 50mA, sufficient to drive a downstream logic input or a small relay.
