What the isolation and CTR ratings mean for the signal path
The 2500Vrms isolation rating provides galvanic separation between the input LED side and the output Darlington transistor — this is the spec that protects low-voltage logic from ground loops, transient spikes, and common-mode voltage differences in industrial sensor interfaces, PLC digital inputs, and motor-drive feedback paths. Current transfer ratio spans 500% minimum to 2600% maximum at a forward current of 1.6mA. A 500% CTR means the output can sink 5× the LED drive current — at 1.6mA LED current, the output drives at least 8mA into the load. The wide CTR spread means the designer must budget for the minimum at the worst-case temperature and LED aging, not the typical value. Turn-on time is 300ns typical, turn-off is 1.6µs typical. The asymmetric switching limits the useful data rate to roughly 300-400 kbps in a digital isolator application — fine for 24V PLC input sampling, serial UART handshake, or slow PWM gate drive, but not for high-speed fieldbus isolation.
