Dual-channel isolation in an SOIC-8 footprint
The HCPL0534R2 packs two independent optocoupler channels into an 8-SOIC package, each with a DC-input LED and a phototransistor output rated for 2500Vrms isolation between input and output sides. With a minimum current transfer ratio of 19% at 16 mA forward current, the part guarantees that a 16 mA LED drive will produce at least 3 mA at the output — enough to saturate a TTL or CMOS gate input across the isolation barrier.
Switching speed and timing margin
Typical turn-on time is 450 ns and turn-off time is 300 ns, giving a combined propagation delay of 750 ns. That asymmetry means the output switches off faster than it turns on, which can create a minimum pulse-width constraint for the downstream logic. Compared to the single-channel HCPL0500R2 — which has the same 450 ns turn-on but a slower 500 ns turn-off — the HCPL0534R2's faster turn-off gives a tighter timing envelope for applications that need symmetrical response across two channels.
